
I’m trying to come up with another company who is as legendarily tone deaf to their user base where that user base remains so ridiculously loyal.
It’s truly remarkable, really.
I mean, say what you want about Apple and their claims that “customers don’t know what they want,” at least they exceeded expectations and surprised us with real innovation once in a while.

David Karp is way too concerned with being a minor internet celebrity than actually running his fucking company, which is pretty sad, because it (was) a great community. Now its just Livejournal for brands. Once someone comes along with something better the core group will move on and the rest will follow.
Tumblr is like the Friendster or microblogging, which famously ran on shoddy servers. Once Facebook came along (with servers with no downtime, more options), everyone jumped ship.
I guarantee you the same thing will happen here.
