JANUARY: Infallible. Do you have a light, by the way?
ME: I do. Man. Smoking. Why do people smoke cigarettes, anyway? There’s no real reason to smoke them. It’s a weird ritual that people turned into an entire industry.
JANUARY: Something to do with a teat. People become addicted to the motions, really. The act of the sucking. The very act of it. People just look for an escape any way they can get it. Sort of like heroin, I guess.
ME: Who told you that?
JANUARY: I read it in a magazine.
ME: You’ve got to be pretty bummed out to do heroin.
JANUARY: True.
ME: I mean, there’s great books out there. Don’t do heroin. Read a book.
JANUARY: I know!
