Ned Hepburn

why is this kind of sense of humor not prevalent anymore? i remember alextypical saying that a healthy upbringing should involve getting your Calvin & Hobbes and The Far Side on pretty young, and thats a trait that i’ve found in a lot of good friends; they all had the same sort of happening in their life where they at some point between 4 and 14 found themselves reading all the Far Side and Calvin & Hobbes they could find.
i don’t see a group of kids sitting around with a big book of Luann or anything, i guess is what i’m trying to say.
but it’s strange - you know - i really don’t see that anymore. i feel like an old man saying “nowadays” but seriously, nowadays, where the fuck is that voice? i’m not even saying “we should go back to the way it was”, i’m just saying, wheres the voice of irreverancy and outside-thinking of The Far Side or the wit and life-affirming spark of Calvin & Hobbes? there isn’t ANYTHING even CLOSE. why are newspaper comics such a dead medium at the moment?
